I was disappointed with this product.
I wanted to like it. I REALLY did. But considering the amount I paid for it, I can't help but feel that it should be better.
Most of the issues are minor, but combined they spoil the product considerably.
- The media player function, which I was excited about, will NOT play anything but AVI files. No idea why. It just freezes.
- The media card is very small. Considering the price of the unit, they could have sprung for a larger one.
- The speed limit warnings are those of non-HGV vehicles and cannot be changed. Lazy design.
- Performing a U-Turn in an articulated lorry on a narrow road is impossible, so stop telling me to perform a bloody U-Turn!
- Cannot be charged through the Micro-USB port. Only with the supplied adapter. A little limiting.
- Places of interest is a complete waste of time. It doesn't have a clue what it is looking for half the time. Very unreliable.
- Freezes on the start-up screen if the charge adapter is plugged in when it's turned on. Always. Very worrying.
- Needs to be constantly plugged in. The battery drains in about 10 minutes.
- Sometimes takes too long to update directions. You turn left and it tells you to turn right long after you've passed the right turn.
- If you miss a turn and it needs to turn you around, it completely forgets you're in a large vehicle and will send you down tiny, bendy, horribly unsuitable roads until you're back on track.
- When starting on a road, having been on a driveway for example, it cannot determine your direction. It says turn left/right but it's 50/50 if you turn the correct way. Doesn't sound like a big deal but turning around long vehicles really isn't convenient.
This product has plenty of merits of course, but ultimately it's a mediocre product that could be so much better. I can't say if the alternative products on the market are better, but this product has set the bar pretty low.
