PowerFile Inc. has announced its C200 MFX and R200 MFX optical storage library solutions. Both systems are set to debut at next week's Macworld CreativePro Conference & Expo in New York.
Each unit sports a 200-disc capacity, for almost a 1 terabyte (TB) of total storage capacity. The C200 MFX system can read DVD and CD media, while the R200 MFX library adds the ability to write.

Both systems use PowerFile's MediaFinder X (MFX) software -- MediaFinder X provides storage and cataloging capabilities for the data contained on the library system itself. Users can retrieve data stored on the system over a local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN). What's more, the PowerFile devices are also compatible with third-party content management systems like Canto Cumulus and Extensis Portfolio.

PowerFile C200 and R200 MFX systems are designed to fit into a standard 19-inch rack mount and feature FireWire connections. Up to 5 units can be daisy-chained together for up to 4.7TB of cumulative storage capacity. The devices work with Mac OS X Server and complement Apple's own Xserve and Xserve RAID systems. With Mac OS X Server, PowerFile C200 and R200 systems can be accessed over Mac OS X, Windows (CIFS), Unix (NFS) and FTP clients, as well as AppleShare, according to the manufacturer.
The PowerFile C200 MFX costs $2,799 and the R200 MFX costs $4,799.
