Driver S License Pdf417 Barcode Reader
This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.
Adding a 2D Barcode Scanner Saves Your Customers’ Time. The solution works by holding your driver’s license 2D barcode up to the laser scanner which will then populate the individual form fields. The 2D barcode scanner reads the information lightning fast; blink and it has input your information to the correct form fields. I noticed at the car hire place, they put your drivers licence into a reader, that then shows you mugshot on the screen. Is this encoded into the PDF417 strip at the back? I've tried this - but get hex values that mean nothing to me:(. Old Version was better
Ok old version was better and I love to use the app for getting the raw text of the PDF417 now you get ID number and it don’t show you the raw text any more i had like using this app before but now I say I only could give them a 2 start bring back the old version with the raw text when you scan if not need to find one that show raw text
Highly recommended
I was looking for an app that is able to read PDF417 barcodes. My HOA is considering scanning drivers licenses for all visitors and rather than looking at the clear text info on the front of the card reading the barcode on the back has more and better information. The developer of this app offers the SDK so that it can be implemented in custom applications. Exactly what I am looking for.
This app is great, the scanner is fast and works even in not so bright light.
The reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars is that when I enable all available barcode formats the scanner doesn’t read the PDF417 anymore
Fast and Efficient
PDF 417 is the best app I have used for scanning barcodes in various lighting conditions and situations. The latest version has evolved into an ever better faster app with a streamlined UI. The previous version had deep linking, so you could call the app and return the results from other apps (i.e., FileMaker Go) but that feature was removed. If that feature was returned to the app, I would’ve given it five stars, because it would be a bigger time saving for me for my needs.

Does your bar code scanner read a driver license with one pass or does it take multiple passes? US retailers who sell regulated goods such as alcohol, lottery tickets and tobacco must follow local, state, and federal requirements to accurately verify customers’ age and identity. Datalogic, Honeywell, and Symbol Motorola offer multiple bar code readers capable of reading PDF417 bar codes commonly found on IDs that can automate the age verification process, so that retailers can more effectively comply with government regulations.
Reading and sending the data found from bar codes on Government issued identification cards (including most state driver licenses) to the point-of-sale quickly verifies and assures the customer’s legal age. This verification process protects the retailer from fines or potential loss of license when selling age-restricted goods. Using a scanner and POS host system toverify ID or age removes the burden of the decision-making process from the cashier andeliminates the need for separate “verification only” equipment.
Using a bar code reader for age verification reduces manual data entry, increases efficiency at the point-of-sale and prevents errors in the sale of controlled items such as alcohol and tobacco.
